Applications are now open for the 2021 Summer School. We ask you to apply online please. 

By submitting this form, you consent to NLMS collecting your names, contact details and payment history. Your data will be used only to contact you about the Society’s administration and activities, and we will never share them. You may see and update your data, or request their erasure or restricted use at any time by contacting the Administrator.

We have to make a commitment to our venue, Downe House School, of a minimum attendance by 1 February 2021.  It will help us greatly to plan the best possible offering if you can make your application before that date.

Demand for most courses is high, so please apply early, and in any case no later than 30 June 2021.

Should the 2021 summer school not go ahead, all monies will be returned.


Those members who applied for the 2020 course will have their places guaranteed for 2021, if they wish to retain them. If anyone wishes to withdraw his/her 2020 application, please let me know by the end of October. On 1 November we shall accept new applications for the 2021 course. At that point, even if you wish to carry your application over to next year, you will need to complete an application form, preferably online, and pay a deposit of £75.


When you use the online application form, please be ready to provide the following information, which will help us to allocate you to the most appropriate course:


  • Main instrument
  • Orchestral experience and position in orchestra
  • Is your sight-reading considered average/good/very good?
  • Additional (and doubling) instruments played and standard.


  • Voice
  • List of choirs with which you have sung
  • Details of your musical background.


The fees listed below are confirmed for 2021. All fees are per person.

Resident full board – single room *£840
Non-resident with lunch, dinner and beverages£595
* A single room will be allocated unless a shared room is requested on the application form


Applications should be accompanied by a £75 deposit per person and full fees must be paid by 30 June 2021. Payment should preferably be made by bank transfer:

Please note that deposits are not refundable, except to those whom the Summer School cannot accept. Half fees will be refunded for cancellations received by 1 July 2021. After that date no fees are refundable, EVEN IF YOU FAIL TO ATTEND. You are therefore advised to take out a holiday insurance for the week.
